NEW GUITARS

About 7 years ago my 1975 Martin D-18,that I bought in 1975, imploded after a house gig in Winchester, Kentucky.That guitar has alot of history with me and I was pretty convinced that I would never get to play it again.Recently I found out that an unknown benefactor,who I do suspect to be a 23 year old contessa(thats another story)commissioned James Ringelspaugh to build me a new instrument.I went to James' house to discuss and plan the guitar to be built and took the Martin with me so James could spec the neck to duplicate for the guitar he was building for me.I leaned the Martin against the wall as I played the various guitars He'd built and discussed body style,woods,set up, and what i was looking for tone wise out of the guitar.Over the course of the next couple of hours James would walk over and pick up my D-18,look at it ,set it back down,talk a bit,pick up the D-18,look at it,set it down.We made the decisions on how the new guitar was to be built when, James told me he could probably fix the Martin alot easier and cheaper than i had originally thought.Whoa!! OK!! SURE!! Even bigger shock,He called me early the next morning to tell me the Martin was fixed.Well to wrap this story,I'm gonna have 2 decent instruments shortly.I am just so excited.Thank you James.I really am blessed daily.Heres some pics of the progress.

Played a last minute gig at the Lovin Cup in Williamsburg( Thanks Dennis). HBO-OAKT Christmas!
Again this year, Christmas plops its big ‘ol fat ass right down on top of my birthday. For the first hundred years or so I let it get to me and just dealt with it, having hardly any fun at all. But for the past eight years (and soon to be nine) I’ve fought back by having my own party, first down at The Brewery and now at The Pour House. Its usually a big night with a good crowd of a couple of hundred fans and friends and the occasional walk-ins. This year’s show is gonna be a doozy! A WHOLE NIGHT of NON-STOP ROCK! First, Chip Robinson’s HBO (Heavy Beat Outfit) starts things off at eight o’clock, playing songs from his new CD, “Mylow”. Next up, The OakTeam, with songs from OUR new record. I’m sure there will be a tribute to David Enloe at some point, as has become custom, especially since it was HIS birthday too! Dave Adams has asked to come up and sing one, that should be good. Chip wants to videotape the whole thing in case I’m too old to do it again next year and you KNOW you wanna be a part of THAT! It’s a good way to put the wraps on Christmas. So save $7 from that tenner your Grandma slipped you and come on down!
